FREQUENTLY ASKED HAIR QUESTIONS

HOW CAN I LOOK YOUNGER WITHOUT DRASTICALLY CHANGING MY HAIR?
Many people would never think of wearing the same style clothing for a decade or more, they change their clothing styles with the seasons and yet keep the same hair style for 10, 15, 20 years. As the years go by our hair color, skin tone and even face shape can change dramatically. So discuss with your stylist about some small little tweaks to the color or the basic cut. This will give you a soft UPDATE to your look without making it into a complete "who is that looking back from the mirror" make over. Soft bangs to the side can be a way of hiding some forehead lines and add softness around the eyes.

I'M TIRED OF SHORT HAIR HOW CAN I GROW IT OUT ?
This one is more difficult for most then it sounds, you just have to buckle down through those in between stages. So I suggest you do nothing in way of cutting for a full four months. Then ask your stylist to give a cut to even out the hair, start with maybe a shorter in the back bob allowing the front to remain longer. Another 4 to 6 months then start adding long layers through out the cut. Remember hair growth, skin glow and healthy nails are all a reflection of good nutrition.

IF I CHANGE MY HAIR COLOR HOW DO I KNOW WHAT WOULD BE THE RIGHT COLOR FOR ME?
always felt the further you go away from your natural shade the less likely it will suite you. Take into consideration your eye color and skin tone, Green or brown eyes with a creamy or olive complexion so consider HONEYED, CHESTNUT TONES. While paler skins look healthy in ashy, beige tones.

I HAVE FINE DRY, BRITTLE HAIR CAN I HAVE HIGHLIGHTS PUT IN MY HAIR?
Bleaching the hair is the first step most stylist jump for when adding highlights, bleach the devil out of it then add a toner. Talk with your stylist about a high lift tint highlight. High lift tints are far safer to the hair and bypass then need of toners.

IM TOO YOUNG FOR THIS GRAY HAIR BUT I DON'T WANT THE COMMITMENT OF THE RE-GROWTH LINE I SEE WOMEN WITH ALL THE TIME. IS THERE ANOTHER WAY OF COVERING MY GRAYS?
An easy fix if ever there was one, use "demi or semi permanent" color. Have your stylist use a semi permanent color the same shade as your natural hair color. This will soften and cover the gray, last 4 to 6 weeks and slowly fade away with no re-growth line.

WHY DOES MY HAIR COLOR FADE SO QUICKLY?
One of two reasons, often time both reasons are, you don't wash your colored clothing in hot water why do you wash your hair in hot water? And the second is usually the wrong type of shampoo. MANY SHAMPOOS HAVE A STRIPING AGENT FOR CLEANING THAT IS HARMFUL TO COLOR, ND HOT WATER ALWAYS FADE COLOR. BE IT YOUR CLOTHING OR YOUR HAIR.

MY CURLY LONG CURLY HAIR IS TRIANGULAR. WHAT DO I TELL MY STYLIST SO THAT I CAN GET A MODERN CUT WITHOUT LOOKING LIKE AN 80'S ROCKER?
Short layers on curly hair can cause that triangle look. In the front layers should hit at an angle under the cheekbone, and then drop down to long layers by the breast so that the curl is all around the perimeter of the face instead of looking puffed up at the top. In the back, you want longer blunt layers so the hair drops down in softer waves. But it's not bad to look like a rocker-so long as it's in a cool way.

I'M TRYING TO GROW MY HAIR LONG, BUT I GET A LOT OF SPIT ENDS. HOW CAN I GET RID OF THEM WITHOUT LOSING LENGTH?
Every product line in the world claims to get rid of spit ends, but that's just not going to happen with product, plus a lot of those products are so heavy, and there's nothing worse then greasy split ends. So use a light leave in like a dry oil mist and focus on the tips of the hair. That will temporarily hold them together then every 10 to 12 weeks get a slight trim only on the split ends to keep the split from traveling up the hair shaft.

HOW CAN I GET NICE LOOSE WAVES LIKE I SEE IN ALL THE MAGAZINES?
Start with a light anti-frizz serum, and damp hair, if your hair is fine then apply a volume mousse, from root to ends. Then blow your hair out with a round brush and when the hair is dry, spray 3 inch sections with a flexible hair spray, then wrap the section around a 1 1/2 inch curling iron, holding it vertically and stopping just short of the roots. The important part is to twirl the hair around the barrel with out using the clamp and leave an inch out at the bottom. If the ends are curled  the finished look is to perfect or DONE looking. twist some curls toward the face and others away from the face as you go around the head that way your hair wont fall into a perfect wave pattern. Once you done the run a finishing cream lightly through the hair.

HOW DO I MAKE MY HAIR LOOK VOLUMINOUS?
In you cut opt for layering. A layered hairstyle gives a thick and fuller look to your hair. It gives it bounce and movement as well. You can try a leave-in-conditioner which is usually lighter then other conditioners. Use a volume mouse or root lift spry before you blow dry, the the root lift spray again afterwards.

HOW OFTEN SHOULD I WASH MY HAIR?
When ever you feel it is dirty and not looking fresh, just be sure to use the proper shampoo for your hair. When conditioning towel dry the hair a bit before applying the conditioner so it will work into the hair instead of just coating the outer shaft. Rinse both shampoo and condition well, many people are much to quick to think the shampoo and conditioner is well rinsed.

WHY DO I HAVE HAIR LOSS?

HAVE YOU EVER WONDERED HOW KIM KARDASHIAN KEEPS HER HAIR LONG HAIR SO BEAUTIFUL AND HEALTHY?
Love her, or hate her, Kim Kardashian is a hair icon - clients are always requesting her color, cut or style.  Philip Wolff, stylist at Shades Salon in Beverly Hills, California, who helps maintain Kim K's long locks, says long hair is beautiful - but only when properly taken care of.  Here are his long hair tips.
1.  KEEP UP ON HAIR CUTS.  Depending on length and texture, reshape hair every 6-10 weeks at the most.
2.  PROFESSIONAL HAIR CARE PRODUCTS ARE CRITICAL.  Store-bought brands won't maintain the integrity of the hair - especially if it's color treated.
3.  CONSIDER DRY SHAMPOO IN BETWEEN WASHES.  Not only will infrequent washing help preserve color, but will also decrease the heat used on the hair in styling.  A thermal protector for flatironing or curling will do the trick.  At the end of the day, long hair is like an old friend.  The better you treat it, the better it will treat you.  :)
